@xtree I don't actually have a list of emails, only usernames. Damon might, he's got loads of useful stuff like that. We should be alright I think, as we get closer to the deadline people get more involved.

@Damon Good work with the Facebook update, totally forgot about all of that, we should get a little bit spammy with that I think to get the numbers up, not too much, just enough!

Anyone know who did artwork last time? It was all sorted by the time I arrived last time.

Vocal was a discarded acapella cover recorded by a friend of a friend but I was inspired how she sang the well-known lyrics in her own style. I worked with the tempo of the track and decided that it could be a down-tempo acoustic track or jumping DnB record; and then I decided that I had to have both. I wrote the general motif on guitar then fleshed out the heavier parts in Reason.

Fantastic to see you here Scheimann I like the way you've done the tune. Although, if you have a non-cover version track it would be better, to keep us away from any royalty issues...but if not, as long as we don't charge people for the album again, it should be ok to go with this.....I would have thought =)

I should be getting the DVD of WAVs from Duo Carioca tonight, then I can start work on the new version of my remix of their track.

For the album name, how about... "From The Core Vol. 1 - Drum & Bass" (then we can put a Cosmic Core logo somewhere, maybe on the back) ?

We could then have a 'From The Core' series for all the genre albums. i.e 'From The Core Vol.2 - Trance' , 'From The Core Vol.3 - Techno'.

Senthrax is the man for graphics and site. Paniono for mastering.

It's time to get people back on the forum here and back on the Cosmic Core publicity machine, I'll get in touch some people from CC vol 1.

Right on time for me, as I just finished and did not start another.
Also I have just bought a 3 hours courses to learn the ins and outs of my favorite synth (Massive)
I will start on the DnB track and will certainly have something to listen sometimes next week!

hmmm seeing as everyone ain't really started yet i'm thinking of having a dabble myself, i watching some tuts now on the basics on D&B but hopefully i can put my own spin on it. whatever i do i'll post it right here.

I like "From The Core", all in favor say I!

I got an email back from Senthrax and he said that although he'd love to join in, he won't have the time because of a project outside of work. He said that Damon has the webspace info? so that shouldn't be too much of an issue to change and add the new album details and Bandcamp link. He has also been kind enough to help as much as he can if we come across any issues.

This does leave the problem of needing some artwork, do we have any budding photoshoppers in our midst?

@Scheimann I'm with Damon on this, it would be nice to not have to worry about any copyright issues, I'm not totally sure of the ins and outs of this when the music is freely available though, anyone know about this?

thanks for the support. I've got another DnB track I'm working on, so if it's a challenge - I'd be ok using that one instead. although Electric Battlefield is one I'm quite proud of

Saying that though - I'm not even sure we can class it as a cover, it's more an "inspired by" track. The musical score, key, notes, tempo and arrangement are all remarkably different to the inspiring track; the only similarity is the lyrics (even they are sung in a different key, order and style).

what do we think - would this be seen as a cover?
if the answer is maybe or more, i'll tuck it back into the fileshare and focus on the other track

@Scheimann If you want to go with that track I can't see it becoming an issue, I just like the idea of the Cosmic Core releases being totally original material. It's totally up to you though!

I've started work on yet another Drum & Bass track, it seems I'm actually going to end up with a choice of tunes!

Hey guys. Cool to see some activity in here again so just checking in with you all.

Progress on my tunes? Well, I have one tune that's almost done...but it's quite mellow. Pretty borderline to call it DnB in my opinion - though I'm of the "hard and heavy" school of DnB so maybe it's actually OK?

Anyway, to counter the mellowness of my first track, I'm also having a stab at something a bit more stonky and aggressive. Fingers crossed that I get SOMETHING done in time, eh!

Looking forward to hearing what you all come up with too!

I'm going to see if I can do some website type stuff tomorrow, shouldn't be too much to change from the original.

Still need someone who's good at artwork, that could potentially just be tweeking the old artwork from CC1, Sentrax said he could give us the photoshop files, I'll happily give it a go but it's not my strong suit.

I've started drafting an email that I'm going to send to some music blogs to get us some attention, a feature on a couple of those could get us some serious recognition.

That's all I can thing of offhand, can anyone think of anything else that needs sorting?

Great, things are moving forward nicely.

The 1st August is better for me now as I have some annual leave booked soon and after this weekend I finish a major gig with my Samba band so I'll have more time to focus on it.

I've cancelled my Portugal trip now, so I'll have more time to get in to the mix. I want to make it a killer. The duo I am remixing say they love what I have done so far and are happy for it to be on our album (they understand it's a free album..or at least an album that won't make much money - i.e. it's all about the music and great publicity of the artists to help us all get more global exposure). They have said that they want to approve it before I release it though, but I am sure they'll love it. If they turn it down I'll go with an edit of Weapon of Mass Destruction instead.

Happenstance, talk to me on Facebook and we'll work it all out together one evening. I have Tom's FTP details he gave me where all our stuff is from CC Vol.1 and Senthrax gave me all the files for Cosmic-core.com which are there on the FTP.

For graphic design, let's make a separate post on the forum asking for graphic designers to get involved? There must be some graphics and / web gurus out there somewhere. We need to keep the slick designs and modern look/feel to it, if no one replies we'll just have to do the best job we can ourselves.
