I'm not big in sticking to a specific genre, usually my tracks are quite mixed!

I'll vote... let's say... hard tech, and probably will be the only one I'll give a try of the genra's that will pe picked, If i will not be featured on the album, it will be a good practice if othing else

So if it ends up being a DnB album I guess it's safe to asume that any type of DnB could make the cut.
I for one have been thinking about making some seriouse attempts at liquid DnB production for some time now so if that fits with the theme then my vote's for DnB.

To be diplomatic and all however, I got to say that I'd be perefectly fine with a trance album aswell

Ok guys, I haven't forgotten about this. Let's say we finalise the vote on 1st May. So you have until then to rally more cosm.nz users to represent your style =)

Once we have counted the votes, we'll go with the winning style and then all those contributing a track in that style can vote in whoever they want to be the album Director, and also vote for people to do all the other required roles. We'll aim to release it by 1st August or something like that.

Then after that we can work on Cosmic Core Volume II for Christmas perhaps? (let's see!) then after that we would do another genre album ,again going to vote but not doing a genre we've already done.

So far it looks like it will be a DnB album...but anything could happen before the 1st of May!

BTW, I just finished listening to the Cosmic Core album in full... it's impressive, to say the least... great work all around. You are an amazing group of people! This collaboration is exactly what I had hoped the future would be like when I worked on the GDS... humanity communicating across all borders, freely sharing culture and knowledge, making music, etc etc. Seeing it happen is too cool... I love it! heh

Drum and bass for sure.

The variety of approaches you can take to this genre is just awesome, anything from satanic pitch bent bass lines to funky breakbeats! Plus I already have a track mastered for the album

If you don't normally make DnB, don't feel pressured into being part of this genre album, there will be more albums in your favorite style at a later date.

10 or 11 artists with a track each is a good number for an album, but if it turns out to be just 6 or 7 of us then I would say that some of us (or all of us) should consider doing two tracks each.

What's the timeline for this compilation album? I'm fairly busy at the moment and would need to make a DnB track from scratch (which I don't mind doing, but would obviously take longer).

release on August 1st seems like a good date to me. we can adjust the timings later.

Sweet. That seems totally doable. I can probably get 2 done by then Is there going to be separate mastering phases as part of this album as well?
Are the tracks supposed to be all instrumental or should I find/use some featured vocalists?

Also, on an unrelated note, I'm always looking for Ableton workflow enhancements, so if you have any juicy ones, please please please share them on this thread

Wow, I've missed out on a lot of what's been going on lately! School and work is eating me like no other, but I will be free from high school on May 18th.

Back to the subject, Me and Immensus have been talking and we've also decided to take part in the Drum & Bass album I have never attempted the genre, but us both would be going for liquid style DnB tracks. He's already done a couple DnB tracks and makes some fine ones. I am hoping to learn a lot with my new exploration and have fun with it as well. Would be a GREAT honor to partake in another wonderful project alongside such creative and talented artists like you all! Hopefully there is enough spots for us.


Oh, and if anyone cares, I'm no working on an EP to release by the end of August, which will be filled with ambient IDM (I think I've found the style that I really love!).

Tell me if there is anything I can help out with, I had a blast earlier this year with mastering a lot of tracks for the first compilation.. So if anyone who doesn't want to do it themselves and still doesn't can't/won't pay for proper mastering I can help out with my limited experience and "softmastering" by Ozone.
