Hey guys just after everyone's help and opinions on some gear I'm planning to get. The basic idea is an all in one portable setup for producing on the road and more importantly performing at gigs. Currently when I setup for a gig I'm up on stage at least 15mins before hand making space, plugging in cables and all kinds of annoying nuisance stuff. Soo.. I'm looking for a new sound card (USB bus powered) that's nice, simple and straight to the point. This has led me to the Apogee Duet 2, does anyone have any experience with it or can recommend something else I can do some research on? I'm also using the APC40 and have been considering running it alongside an APC20 but my main problem is they both have to be powered and Ableton won't recognise them until they're plugged in. This has left me with 2 options: Ditch the APC's and invest in a pair of Launchpads and a VCM600 or find a compact Lithium battery back with dual 12v outputs that can be charged while in use. Finally all of this equipment needs to be kept in a convenient case (preferable with a stand), that I can open up, plug in a couple cables and GO. Something along the lines of this - Magma Workstation Cheers in advanced for any help or advice you can give me and I'm highly interested if anyone has a setup along the same lines. -Mash J Prime |

I use an Allen and Heath 4d Mixer with Maschine and midi keyboard. i have the 4D in a flight case with a shelf above it for my laptop and maschine. These cases can be found on ebay. If you want to limit cables i recomend a mixer such as the 4D or the DB4 because then you just plug in a power cable, the USB cable and then i have XLR to RCA cables i plug into the club mixer. The 4D and DB4 have an audio interface built in. Makes things much easier. Also Livid have some good midi controllers. New one just released call Element and it has 8 sections you can select which you want for each section.. so its sort of like custom build your own |
